Health officials in Wisconsin, Illinois report 3 West Nile virus deaths
Three people tested positive for the virus in Lake County over the last seven days, health officials say. One of the victims experienced symptom onset in mid-August and died shortly thereafter.

Veteran Chicago police officer found dead in vehicle in Grand Boulevard
The 44-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the head about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday in a parked vehicle in the 4000 block of South King Drive, authorities said. He hasn’t been formally identified.

4 killed in shooting on CTA Blue Line train in Forest Park, suspect in custody
About 5:30 a.m., officers responded to the Forest Park Blue Line station at 711 Desplaines Ave. and found four people shot, Forest Park police said. Three people died at the scene; a fourth died at a hospital.

Bystander wounded in Roseland carjacking attempt is hospitalized
A 63-year-old man walking in the 700 block of West 107th Street about 7:24 p.m. Sunday was wounded in a shooting, police said. He was hospitalized in fair condition.
